Newsletter
Welcome to the Crewe & District Model Boat Club Newsletter giving you up to date information on current events and activities for the benefit of members and visitors to our club.
We sail at Boundary Park Lake on Knutsford Road, Cranage, Holmes Chapel. Our Club sailings are on a Sunday from 1pm to 4 pm and additionally on Wednesday afternoon from 1pm.
Health and Safety:
Sailing model boats is an enjoyable pastime but we should all be aware that there is an issue with safety whilst at the sailing site. Please see our section on safe sailing and emergency for full details.
All persons attending or sailing at Crewe and District Model Boat Club events do so entirely at their own risk
Live Steam Models:
We are affiliated to the Northern Association of Model Engineers (N.A.M.E.) and members may present their boilers for testing and will receive NAME documentation once the relevant tests have been passed. We intend to hold a live steam day at the lake next spring.
Yachting:
The water level continues to give problems for model yachts but any prospective yachting member requiring guidance may contact Brian Clewes our yachting representative .
Membership:
New members are contiuing to join and our membership is open to all subject to proposal by two members and acceptance by members at our monthly meetings.
New members with or without their models are always welcome. We allow three visits before they apply for membership to allow time for the individual to assess the facilities and the suitability of our sailing waters for their model.
Junior members pay no fees but must be accompanied by a responsible adult who must be a member of the Crewe & District Model Boat Club
Visiting Modellers:
Visiting modellers are especially welcome with or without their models and we will always allow them to sail their model, however live steam models will need to have a valid recognised boiler test certificate.
Shows Attended and Planned:
We will be attending the Militaire show on 26th February, the Reaseheath Open day on 13th May, the Aqueduct Marina Open Day on Sunday 22nd July, the Malpas Vintage Machinery Association Yesteryear Rally on the 1st and 2nd September and The Alsager Railway Show in November, this year held at the Oakley Centre Crewe. We have agreed to attend The Northern Modelling Exhibition, at Event City in Manchester from 2nd to 4th March 2012
Lakeside:
We have purchased and installed a bench table seat at the lakeside and it is giving good service in the fine weather we have been enjoying. We are to purchase another bench in the spring.
The water level is returning but the weeds are being blown into our sailing area. We are to hold a lake cleaning day on Sunday 8th January to try and rectify the situation.
