Newsletter
Welcome to the Crewe & District Model Boat Club Newsletter giving you up to date information on current events and activities for the benefit of members and visitors to our club.
We sail at Boundary Park Lake on Knutsford Road, Cranage, Holmes Chapel. Our Club sailings are on a Sunday from 1pm to 4 pm and additionally on Wednesday afternoon from 1pm.
We are affiliated to the Northern Association of Model Engineers (N.A.M.E.) and members may present their boilers for testing and will receive NAME documentation once the test has been passed.
2010 looks like being a good year for hovercraft as the continuing ice on the lake makes an ideal surface.
We now intend to provide a sloped path from the car park and some boarding along the bank edge. Unfortunately as the ground remains frozen this will have to wait until the ground becomes workable.
Sailing model boats is an enjoyable pastime but please be aware that there is an issue with safety whilst at the sailing site. Our section on safe sailing and emergency gives full details.
All persons attending or sailing at Crewe and District Model Boat Club events do so entirely at their own risk
The water level continues to give problems for model yachts but any prospective yachting member requiring guidance may contact Brian Clewes our yachting representative .
We continue to welcome new members with their models before they apply as this ensures they are happy with our sailing waters for their model. Membership is limited to 34 so we maintain a list of prospective members and any vacancies will be offered to those on the list on an earliest date recorded basis. Please contact the Secretary if you wish to be placed on the list.
Visiting modellers are especially welcome with or without their models and we will always allow them to sail their model.
We will be attending the Militaire show on 28th February, The Middlewich Transport Festival in July, The Malpas Vintage Machinery Association Yesteryear Rally on the 11th and 12th September and The Alsager Railway Show in November at the Oakley Centre in Crewe. The organisers of the Reaseheath Open day have advised that due to extensive building work the show for 2010 has been cancelled.
We were seeing a regular attendance of 10+ on Sundays and 4+ on Wednesdays but the weather has restricted sailing since early December.
We had a record turn out at the AGM with 17 attendees and 12 apologies. The committee was re-elected and the fees set for next year. The audited accounts remain in the black and were accepted.
This is clearly a popular venue and will be used for our monthly meetings from 8pm on the first Tuesday at the British Legion Club in Middlewich.
The next meeting will be held on Tuesday 2nd March 2010.
